The Next Time You Make Coffee, Do THIS With the Grounds

If you're one of the many, many people who includes coffee as part of your morning routine, you will want to reconsider throwing out your used coffee grounds.

As you’ll see below, they can make your life a lot easier in a number of different ways, ranging from gardening to beauty to cleaning.

You’re probably producing them every day if you brew coffee, so set them aside and put them to use according to the instructions below.

They make a terrific fertilizer.

Everyone could use a little help when they’re gardening. Toss your used grounds into the soil. They will attract worms and also help the soil hold water.

They keep bugs and pests away.

Lots of undesirable insects and critters are averse to the smell of coffee, so putting some near your doorway or garden will help guarantee a pest-free zone.

They actually get scratches out of wood, too!

imply rub some grounds (using a Q-tip) against the scratch on a table or other wooden surface. They’ll fix the discoloration.

If you’re having trouble, try letting them soak in a drop or two of water for a few minutes first.

They're especially good at helping carrots grow.

The grounds can stimulate growth for lots of plants and vegetables, but carrots seem to be improved especially well, so don’t hesitate to treat them to the grounds during growing season.

They make a terrific abrasive scrub.

Sure, you can use metal, but for a gentler, yet still effective abrasive scrub, use coffee grounds to get the gunk up without ruining non-stick coating.

They actually remove odors in small spaces.

You might use baking soda in your fridge to get odors out, but coffee grounds can do the same thing for free!
(And don’t worry, it won’t smell like coffee in your fridge. That smell goes away quickly from grounds.)

Tie them up to use as an air freshener.

It might seem like a funny idea, but it works!
Put the grounds in a cheese cloth or something similar and place near a vent or source of circulating air.
It really makes the place smell great!

Coffee grounds make a great exfoliant, too.

The idea of rubbing coffee grounds all over your body might seem a little weird (or fun), but it’s a great way to remove dead skin when showering.

As if that isn’t reason enough, caffeine also acts as a diuretic to help reduce cellulite under your skin when applied topically.

NOTE: Just make sure you don’t use too much or you’ll end up with a clogged shower drain. A little bit at a time is the way to go.

Color your hair with them!

If you have light hair and are looking to go darker, toss a couple teaspoons of grounds right into your conditioner and let it sit after you’ve rubbed it in for 5-10 minutes.
It will provide a temporarily darker hue than your natural color!
