CIA Docs revealed Aquino's airstrike request that could 'kill filipino' during the 1989 coup!

America's Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) recently has declassified more than 12M documents, putting them online and making these documents accessible to the public.

One of the documents included an information on the Philippine government, specifically the 1989 coup led by former military colonel Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan against the administration of Corazon 'Cory' Aquino.

The document claimed that Aquino asked for military assistance but Washington allegedly refused because of the risks of killing many innocent Filipinos at the heat of the rebellion.

It mentioned former defense chief Fidel V. Ramos saying that the US government offered military assistanc to crush a mutiny by dissidents seeking to topple the Aquino administration.

However, Aquino is said to have asked personally asked US for help; and America responded by sending US warplanes to provide air cover to allow the Philippine Military to attack the rebellions.

“The Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post reported last weekend that the Aquino government asked for airstrikes but US officials refused because of political risks in killing Filipinos,” the document further read.

The document also revealed 12 opposition lawmakers condemned the Philippine’s request for foreign assistance to quash the rebellion, and described such request as “a shameless act of surrender of sovereignty to a foreign power.”
