Girl fears she might have caught HIV because of ‘prick’ from unknown woman
HIV is spread mainly by having sex or sharing injection drug equipment such as needles with somebody who has HIV. Only certain fluids—blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids, and breast milk—from an HIV-infected person can transfer HIV. Contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes can also spread the disease. But what are the other possible instances where a person can get the said disease?
Facebook user Enya de Jesus is now fearing she might have contracted the disease. As she was waiting for the pedestrian’s green light one morning along Cubao, she felt a ‘prick’ on her back that startled her. “Aray! Ano yun!!! Ano yun!!! (Ouch! What was that?),” she yelled out of pain.
As she looked back, she saw a woman slowly walking away. Although she knows that it was that girl who pierced her, Enya didn’t run after her because the woman might have something else with her—or she might have an accomplice with her.
They reported the incident to the police and is now under investigation. She has to go through a series of tests before she could be sure she is safe from any deadly disease.
