HTI Line leader who saved his teammates from factory fire in Cavite dies in hospital

The first casualty of the HTI Factory Fire in General Trias City, Cavite was announced by Governor Boying Remulla.

The man was identified as Jerome Sismaet, 37 years old from Maragondon Cavite, a line leader at the House Technologies Industries (HTI) factory.

He was recognized as “Hero” by many Caviteños because he tried to rescue all his team mates first before leaving the burning factory, but unfortunately, the fire reached him that made him suffered severe burn injuries.

Director General of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Charito Plaza described Sismaet as a hero for staying behind to let his subordinates move out from the burning factory first.

His subordinates also thanked him for being a good line leader who sacrificed his life for his subordinates.




HTI promised to shoulder all the medical bills and other expenses of all affective employees of the fire.

After 3 days, the factory fire was finally declared as fire out and it estimated that the cost of damages worth at least P15-B.
